Claycat’s journey commenced amidst the challenging backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It all began as a personal venture by Lili Truter, who, aside from being a Graphic Designer, Makeup Artist, and Pastry Chef, is also a dedicated wife and loving Kitty Mom. Her desire to embark on a creative endeavor for herself led her to the world of clay crafting, specifically crafting clay earrings. This venture allowed her to delve into the intricacies of clay craftsmanship and discover the essential tools needed.
While navigating their busy schedules, Lili and her husband, Chris, discovered a beautiful way to merge their individual hobbies. Chris, with a passion for building 3D printers, found a means to complement Lili’s craft. This synergy became even more significant when Lili lost her job as a graphic designer due to the pandemic. She decided to transform her hobby into a small business, using her husband’s 3D printer to manufacture polymer clay cutters. With determination and self-guided learning, she acquired the skills to use CAD software for designing these cutters. Collaborating with her husband, they fine-tuned the 3D printer to produce the highest quality, resulting in the creation of premium, razor-sharp cutters.
Today, while Lili continues to create earrings, her primary focus is utilizing them to test the performance of her cutters.
Aah the furr-babies, Lili and her husband Chris, has 3 beautiful Maine Coons.
Highlander’s Alatar the Blue Tobi, known mostly only as Tobi (nicknames include: Tobias, Tobotron, Tobi wan Kenobi and Toblerone), is 4 and a half years old, subtle spirit and always protecting his mother.
Asgard’s Bonnie Cowgirl Aiko, known only as Aiko, is also 4 and a half years old (10 days older than Tobi), she is what you would describe as the klepto kitty. She will always join you for breakfast, lunch or dinner, but is the most loving girl there is. She is always first for treat time, and never lets any of the boys show her up. She is the princess of the house, and she won’t let anyone forget it.
Highlander’s Aslan, at only 2 years old, he is the youngest. Wild spirit, and purr machine, he is always up and running and has a slight FOMO problem. He is the life of the party, and has constant “zoomies” that somehow turns into “super-zoomies”, and he never gives his older siblings a break.
The primary vision of Claycat centers on authenticity and prioritizing our clients’ well-being. Beyond that, our commitment lies in furnishing jewelry clay creators with the essential tools they require. However, it’s essential to note that our vision is an ever-evolving concept, adapting alongside our journey in this realm.
Presently, our product range includes Polymer Clay Cutters and Clay itself. The process involves designing these cutters meticulously within CAD software, followed by exporting them for precise 3D printing. Across all our cutter designs, our unwavering commitment is to achieve excellence and infuse a sense of uniqueness into each one.
Furthermore, we pay special attention to maintaining cutting edges within the 0.3 to 0.35mm range, as this range yields the best cutting results while upholding the highest standards of quality. Our core aim is not just limited to aesthetics but extends to simplifying the lives of our valued clients. By ensuring our cutting edges remain thin and razor-sharp, we contribute to saving valuable time that would otherwise be spent on post-cutting cleanup and filing.
